Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.*
We were in Christ when he was crucified. We were in Christ when he was buried. We were in Christ when he was raised.
That death made us dead to sin. The resurrection made us alive to righteousness; it enabled us to be in right standing with God.
A dead man can sin no more. Sin had lost its power over us. We became the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
Now, having accepted Jesus as Lord, we can have power over temptation to sin. We are no longer slaves to sin, but servants of righteousness. Jesus has changed us forever. We can say no to sin, and yes to righteousness.
This is newness of life. Old things have passed away. We have been made the New Creation in Christ. All things have been made new; new covenant, new birth, new and living way, new heart and spirit, new opportunity to walk in newness of life.
New you. New Day. New life. New Way!
