While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease.*
Last time I looked the earth was still here. Still turning. This means seedtime and harvest remain. Seasons. Times. A time to sow and a time to reap.
If we don’t sow we will never reap, unless we harvest another man’s crops. This has happened before, but the principle is the same. Someone sows, even if another reaps. If nothing is sown, there is nothing to harvest.
We always look forward to harvest, since the principle of sowing and reaping requires that we plan ahead.
Our crop will reflect our seed sown. If we sow wheat we will harvest wheat, assuming the conditions are right, and the crop is well tended. So, if we are in need of joy, what kind of seed do we sow towards a harvest of joy?
Seed needs good soil to survive and thrive. It needs to be well prepared, well tended, well nurtured, well watered. Our seed is our investment in the harvest. God gives the seed. God gives the increase. The seed harvested is the increase from God. We sow, we tend, we reap.
What kind of harvest are you looking for? Prepare for it. Sow towards it. Gather in due season.
